What are the key things to consider when buying a gaming cabinet?

When buying your new gaming cabinet, there are a few essential points to keep in mind:

  • Build quality and looks: A gamer needs to have the best-looking cabinet with good RGB lighting. The cabinet should also be well built so it can protect your PC’s internal components and support you for a long time.

  • Cabinet size matters: I would recommend you go for the cabinet that can perfectly fit your motherboard (ATX, M-ATX, or E-ATX) and has enough clearance for your other components like the graphics card, PSU, etc.

Try to get a spacious cabinet, as it will help in maintaining good airflow and also make it easier for you to manage your cables.

Tech is changing rapidly, and futuristic graphics cards, AIOs, and other components must fit well inside your cabinet; hence, try to get a sufficiently sized case that is future-proof.

  • Cooling options: Ensure that your cabinet provides enough cooling options, like air cooling and liquid cooling, if you wish to upgrade your PC or want to use additional fans.

Good cooling options will help in maintaining your thermals and also protect your vital PC components from overheating.

  • Storage options: It is important to check the storage options provided by your cabinet to see if it has a sufficient number of SSD or HDD trays for expansion.

Ensure to check your requirements accordingly and select the right cabinet.

  • Cable management options: Try to get a cabinet that provides good management options; after all, who likes those messy and ugly-looking cables for which you can’t make a head or tail !! 😅

  • Upgradability: Ensure to get a case that can be disassembled easily and upgraded. Look for cases with tool-less access panels and modular drive bays for easy upgrades. 🛠

Plus, extra PCIe slots come in handy for future expansion, like capture cards or fancy RGB controllers.

  • Budget: I generally follow a golden rule here: I never spend more than 10% of the entire PC budget on the cabinet. For example, if your PC build’s total cost is 50,000 Rs, don’t spend more than 4000–5000 Rs. on your cabinet.

Try to get a cabinet that offers a good balance between price and features, along with good storage, cooling, and other options as discussed above.

Pro tips: (exclusively from my experience)

  • I always prefer the cabinet in which the PSU shroud (space or cut-out for PSU) is separate; usually, in the bottom, I have heard cases of PSUs blasting and damaging the entire PC. 🔥

  • Always buy your gaming cabinet at the end, when you have purchased or decided on all the other components. I am saying this because it can help you avoid any fitting or compatibility issues.

Make sure to check the sizes and clearance of all your components before deciding on your cabinet.

7 Best Gaming Cabinets Under ₹4000

In this section, I have discussed the best gaming cabinets that I could find for around 4000 rupees and that provide good features as per their price.

I have discussed in detail the strengths and weaknesses of all the products, please take a look before making your final purchase decision.

Galax Revolution 06 White Review

Galax Revolution 06 White

GALAX is a well-known and respected Hong Kong-based brand in the computer hardware world. I am sure you must have heard of this brand if you are a PC gamer.

Galax has made a few amazing and feature-rich cases in the past that were liked a lot by Indian gamers.

Galax Revolution 06 White Edition is the latest case launched with the prime goal of providing amazing looks and features while staying within budget.

Let’s talk about its amazing features in detail:

  • Build Quality and Design: The build quality feels solid and durable, as it is entirely made of metal with toughened glass in the side panel.

The front panel is made of hard plastic and comes with a mesh design, which helps in excellent airflow. The cabinet looks premium and elegant, which would impress your friends.

The tempered glass is heavy, and you can open or close it like a door, so you don’t need to worry about finding screwdrivers before cleaning it or upgrading your system.

I personally don’t like the ugly-looking PSU cutout as it feels cheap; however, you can hide it using white paper or cardboard.

  • Fans and cooling options: The cabinet has 4 preinstalled RGB fans, which saves you the cost of additional fans.

The fans are not ARGB, which is expected as per the cabinet’s price. Also, you cannot change the RGB effects of fans; they come with a rainbow effect by default. There is also an ARGB version of the cabinet available at a higher cost.

The cabinet supports Liquid Cooling as mentioned: Front (240mm/280mm/360mm), Top (240mm/280mm), Rear (120mm).

  • Storage Options: The cabinet ensures you never worry about storage by providing 3 Sata SSD drive mounts and a hard drive tray where you can install 2 hard drives.

  • Motherboard Support: The cabinet supports Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX and ATX types of motherboards, which is usually sufficient for gamers.

  • Connectivity options: The connectivity options are really good, with separate headphone and microphone jacks making your PC easier for multitasking. It also has two USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 port along with a power and a restart button.

  • Cable management: There is ample space for cable management, and you can arrange your cables very neatly; however, there are no zip ties available, so you need to find some alternatives for tying your cables.

  • Other Useful Features: The cabinet comes with a dust filter on the top and bottom just below your PSU; this helps to keep your cabinet very clean.

Overall, if you are looking for a well-priced and balanced gaming cabinet that provides the required features with slight drawbacks, such as missing ARGB and lack of RGB controls, you can prefer this cabinet.

Pros

  • Solid and durable build quality
  • Four pre-installed RGB fans
  • Good storage options: 3 SSD mounts & 2 HDD cage.
  • Good connectivity options
  • Dust filters to keep your cabinet clean and components protected.

Cons

  • Ugly-looking PSU cutout
  • Non-ARGB fans: RGB fan with Rainbow effect only, no color customization
  • No cable management accessories like zip ties.

Corsair Carbide Series SPEC 01 Review

Corsair Carbide Series SPEC 01

Corsair is a leading American brand and has a very good reputation for making high-quality PC components and peripherals. This brand is well-known in the Indian gaming community.

The Corsair Carbide SPEC 01 gaming cabinet has been available on the market for a long time and is preferred by gamers due to its unique looks and the budget it comes under without compromising on features.

Let’s discuss the features offered by cabinet in detail, which will help you decide whether to go for it or not:

  • Build quality and design: The cabinet is well-built and feels very sturdy. The entire body is made of steel with a black matte finish. The front panel is made of hard plastic, and it also feels very durable.

The front panel and bottom of the power supply have a dust filter, which keeps the interior of your cabinet clean.

The design looks very classy due to its red theme and semi-transparent side panel.

Please beware that this cabinet has no separate PSU shroud, so if anything goes wrong, like if your PSU blasts, it may damage your other valuable PC components, so yes, it’s a dealbreaker for me.

  • Fans and cooling options: The cabinet has a very good-looking RGB fan preinstalled having red lights on the front, which looks stunning.

The cabinet supports five 120-mm fans (one on the back, two on the top, and two on the front side).

However, it supports only 120/240 mm liquid coolers, so please ensure to get the correctly sized liquid cooler so it doesn’t interfere with your RAM size and fits properly in your cabinet.

  • Storage options: This cabinet has support for two optical drives on top, which is rare these days, so yes, if you have the requirement of a CD or DVD, it’s there for you.

This cabinet has good support for four HDDs or SSDs, which is easy to install in the given tray.

  • Motherboard Support: You can easily use any Mini ITX, Micro ATX, or ATX type of motherboard, which is generally used by the majority of gamers.

  • Connectivity options: The cabinet has enough connectivity options with separate headphone and microphone jacks; I really like this as it will help you to use both ports separately.

It also has one USB 2.0, one USB 3.0 port, and a power and restart button, which are easily accessible as they are in the front of the case.

  • Cable management: You can do very decent cable management in this cabinet due to sufficient holes, and it also has zip ties available.

Overall, if you are looking for a decent cabinet with good build quality, an optical drive, and you are ok with the unavailability of separate PSU cutout, you may go for this case.

This case is budget-friendly and has somewhat old looks; I would suggest you buy it only if it’s available for around ₹3000. For a higher price, you have other excellent options available.

Pros

  • Classic design with semi transparent side panel
  • Budget-friendly
  • Metallic build quality feels very sturdy
  • Separate headphone and microphone jacks
  • Sufficient holes and zip ties for decent cable management

Cons

  • Comes with only one preinstalled fan
  • No separate PSU shroud
  • Outdated design; some gamers may not like it
  • It does not come with a mesh design.
  • Not ideal for high-end builds

Ant Esports SX7 Review

Ant Esports SX7

Ant Esports is a popular Indian brand known for making budget-friendly and excellent-quality gaming components and peripherals.

Ant Esports SX7 gaming cabinet is sold a lot in the Indian market due to the features offered by it and its excellent price.

This is my favorite brand, and I have been using the same gaming cabinet on my PC since its launch. However, this is a completely unbiased review, as per my experience.

Let’s discuss its features in detail and exactly why this cabinet is good for a gaming PC build:

  • Build quality and design: The build quality of this cabinet is excellent; the combination of metal, hard plastic, and toughened glass used in the side panel makes it very durable and feels solid.

The cabinet comes in two color options: black and white. I am using the white one for my setup, and it looks stunning on my PC table due to its modern mesh design.

The mesh design also helps to maintain good airflow and keep my PC cool.

The side panel tempered glass feels solid and looks good, but you need to be careful while opening it, as there is no door mechanism, and you have to open four screws for taking it apart.

However, I don’t like the cutout, which makes your PSU visible and gives it a cheap feeling, so I have covered it using white cardboard, and it is not noticeable now, but I would have preferred a fully covered design with no PSU cutouts at all.

  • Fans and cooling options: The cabinet comes with 3 preinstalled 120 mm ARGB fans in the front panel, which is a very good thing as many competitors offer only RGB fans with few lighting effects. It also saves you the cost of buying new fans.

However, there is no preinstalled fan on the back side of the cabinet, so you’ll have to get an extra fan, sadly. You can install two 120 mm/140 mm fans on the top for good airflow.

The cabinet supports 240 mm and 280 mm liquid coolers on the top and 360 mm liquid coolers on the front, which will ensure that your PC is cool and efficient.

  • Storage options: The cabinet has enough storage capabilities; it has two HDD and two sata SSD bays, making it easy to store your favorite games, movies, and files.

  • Motherboard support: The cabinet supports Mini ITX, Micro ATX, and ATX types of motherboards, which is sufficient for gamers in general.

  • Connectivity options: The cabinet has excellent connectivity options, including two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, a 3.5 mm combined jack (for the microphone and headphones), an RGB fan controller button for changing colors, a power button, and a restart button.

  • Cable management: You could manage the cables very well in this cabinet, using the zip ties provided in the plastic case.

If you are looking for a balanced gaming cabinet with features such as good build quality, decent cooling, sufficient storage space, and a variety of connectivity options, you can go for it without any worries.

However, there are a few drawbacks as well, like the exposed PSU cutout and lack of a rear fan.

Pros

  • Metallic build quality
  • Good airflow with mesh front panel
  • Three pre-installed ARGB fans
  • Good cable management

Cons

  • Exposed PSU cutout
  • No pre-installed rear fan

DEEPCOOL MATREXX 40 Review

DEEPCOOL MATREXX 40

Deepcool is a 27-year-old, well-established brand that makes high-quality PC components and cooling solutions. Their products are reliable and provide high performance as they are continuously innovating.

Deepcool generally makes high-end and expensive gaming cabinets, but the Deepcool Matrexx 40 is a very good and budget-friendly option.

One of my friends is using this cabinet with a Ryzen build and is quite satisfied with it.

Let’s discuss what this gaming cabinet has to offer:

  • Build quality and design: The build quality of the cabinet is good as the entire cabinet, apart from the front panel, is metallic. The front panel is made of hard plastic, which feels durable.

The front panel design is edgy and grilled, which looks very unique. It also comes with a dust filter that is non-removable.

The side panel is made of edge-to-edge thick tempered glass, which you can take apart easily by opening just two screws. This helps to easily clean or upgrade your PC.

The weird-looking PSU cut-out is not there in this cabinet, which gives it a clean look, and I liked it.

  • Fans and cooling options: The cabinet comes with three preinstalled LED fans, so you don’t need to worry about buying fans immediately. With two 120-mm fans in the front and one 120-mm fan in the back, it maintains good airflow.

These fans are not ARGB and come with a fixed tricolor effect, which shows a bit of cost-cutting is done here. However, I am okay with it considering the budget and brand value. At least the fans are there.

You can use a liquid cooler of up to 280 mm on the top or front, ensuring that your CPU remains cool.

  • Storage options: The cabinet supports two HDDs and two SSDs, making it easier for you to upgrade your storage.

  • Motherboard support: The cabinet supports only Mini ITX and Micro ATX motherboards, which is usually enough for the majority of gamers; however, you cannot use the ATX type of motherboards with this cabinet, so please decide accordingly.

  • Connectivity options: The connectivity options are enough; the cabinet has one USB 2.0, one USB 3.0 port, a combo headphone/microphone jack, a power button, and a restart button, which are helpful to connect additional accessories to your PC.

  • Cable management: There is enough space for proper cable management; the zip ties are also provided with the cabinet to ease your work.

Overall, if you are looking for a cabinet with good build quality, balanced features, and a few drawbacks, such as LED fans with a single tricolor effect and a lack of ATX motherboard support, you can consider purchasing this cabinet.

Pros

  • Unique front panel design
  • Good build quality
  • Three pre-installed LED fans
  • Budget-friendly as compared to other deepcool cabinets.
  • Absence of the weird “PSU cut-out” and maintains a sleek appearance.

Cons

  • Non-removable dust filter
  • Fixed tricolor LED fans
  • Only Mini ITX/Micro ATX motherboard are supported, excluding ATX

Ant Esports ICE-311MT Review

Ant Esports ICE-311MT

Ant Esports ICE-311MT is a very popular gaming cabinet online, and many of my friends are using the same cabinet in their gaming setups.

Let’s discuss its key features and see why it’s a decent choice for many budget gamers:

  • Build quality and design: The cabinet feels very solid and durable, as the entire body is metallic and the front panel is made of hard plastic.

The side panel is made of high-quality tempered glass, which makes your PC components look appealing.

However, you need to be careful while handling it, as you have to open four screws and remove them for cleaning or upgrading your system.

The angular design and the mesh look very attractive, and the mesh also helps in maintaining good airflow and keeping your PC cool and calm.

It doesn’t have that weird-looking PSU cutout that is provided by most brands at this price. That’s a good thing, as it gives this cabinet a clean look and doesn’t give it a cheap feel.

It has dust filters on the top and bottom of the PSU, which helps keep the interior of your cabinet clean.

  • Fans and cooling options: The cabinet comes with three pre-installed 120 mm ARGB fans in the front and a non-RGB 120mm fan on the backside of the cabinet. This is the second cabinet on our list that comes with four fans.

However, you cannot control the ARGB lighting effects using your motherboard, and you have to use the top panel restart button to do it. Ensure to connect the restart button’s wire to the fan’s wire to change the ARGB lighting effects accordingly.

The cabinet also supports a 120/240 mm radiator on the top for efficient cooling. It supports 2 120 mm fans in the bottom as well, so there is no problem of cooling at all!

  • Storage options: There are plenty of storage options available in this cabinet; you can easily use two HDDs and two Sata SSDs and enjoy more storage.

  • Motherboard support: The cabinet supports all the commonly used motherboard types, like Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, and ATX, so you won’t face any problems here.

  • Connectivity options: The cabinet provides the necessary posts for your additional PC accessories. It provides separate headphone and microphone jacks, a restart/ARGB color changing button, one USB 2.0, one USB 3.0, and a power button.

Please make sure to connect the restart button’s wire to the fan’s wire if you want to change the lighting effects of the front fans.

  • Cable Management: You can manage the cables very well, thanks to the zip ties that come bundled, holes, and cutouts available, especially for managing the cables.

If you are looking for a feature-loaded gaming cabinet with minor compromises, such as a non-RGB backside fan, this cabinet is the best option for staying within budget.

Pros

  • Solid build quality
  • Good airflow and support for multiple fans
  • Lack of PSU cutout gives the cabinet a clean look.
  • Plenty of storage options

Cons

  • Non-RGB rear fan
  • You cannot control the ARGB lighting effects using your motherboard and have to use top panel restart button.

CHIPTRONEX Thunderstorm X3 Review

CHIPTRONEX Thunderstorm X3

The Chiptronex Thunderstorm X3 gaming cabinet is sold very well online, and many gamers are liking it due to its low price, unique look, and features offered.

I was really impressed with this case when I was doing the research; it is aggressively priced and offers a good value for your money.

Let’s talk about its interesting specs, which are attracting gamers:

  • Build quality and design: The body is metallic and feels very durable; the front panel is made of hard plastic, which also feels very solid.

The mesh design on the front looks very clean, unique, and quite practical, in my opinion.

The dust filters available on top and bottom make your life easier, and you don’t need to worry about cleaning more often.

This cabinet has the PSU cutout exposed, which doesn’t look good and gives a feeling of a budget cabinet.

The side-tempered glass is also of high quality and makes your beautiful components visible.

  • Fans and cooling options: There is a big 200 mm ARGB fan on the front panel and a 120 mm ARGB fan installed in the backside of the cabinet, which is sufficient to cool down all your PC components.

You can control the ARGB lighting effects using the button on the top of the cabinet.

The front fan is positioned slightly higher, so the airflow may not reach your graphics card effectively, so you may see a slight difference in thermals.

The case can support a 120/240mm radiator on the front and a 120mm radiator on the rear. You cannot install it on the top as it doesn’t have enough ram clearance.

  • Storage options: The cabinet supports two 3.5″ HDDs and two 2.5″ Sata SSDs, which gives you the flexibility to store more games, files, and media.

  • Motherboard support: You can easily use Mini ITX, Micro ATX, and ATX types of motherboards, which are generally used by the majority of gamers.

  • Connectivity options: The I/O options are enough in this cabinet; it has two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, separate headphone and microphone jacks, a power button, and a light control button.

  • Cable Management: The cable management can be done very well on this gaming cabinet due to the adequate space.

Overall, if you are looking for a low-budget gaming cabinet without compromising any essential features, you can consider this cabinet.

However, there are a few drawbacks as well, like the exposed PSU cutout and the high positioning of the fan.

Pros

  • Budget friendly
  • Two preinstalled fans (front and back)
  • Good airflow
  • Enough cable management space

Cons

  • Exposed PSU cutout
  • high positioning of the fan

Zebronics Zeb-Cronus Review

Zebronics Zeb-Cronus

Zebronics is a well-known Indian brand for providing high-quality and budget-friendly PC accessories.

The Zebronics Zeb Cronus gaming cabinet is very popular and sold a lot online due to its unique looks, features, and low price.

Let’s discuss the features offered by this cabinet in detail:

  • Build quality and design: The build quality is very good; the cabinet comes in a metallic build with high-quality tempered glass used on the left side and front.

The cabinet feels premium, but the screws used are made of plastic and feel cheap.

The cabinet doesn’t have a PSU in the bottom, and it is near to the motherboard, which I don’t like as the heat generated by the PSU can actually throttle your CPU performance.

It’s dangerous if your PSU blasts by any chance; it can destroy your entire PC. I suggest you get a branded and reliable PSU if you are planning to use this cabinet. Better safe than sorry.

  • Fans and cooling options: There are four preinstalled ring RGB fans with a default rainbow effect that you cannot change; it’s a good thing for better airflow, and it also saves you money.

You cannot use any AIOs or fans on the top side, sadly. However, you can mount a fan on the bottom of the case.

  • Storage options: You can easily use an HDD and an SSD in the bottom; however, this seems insufficient, and you have to adjust the other storage devices somewhere, which I don’t like.

  • Motherboard support: The cabinet supports Standard ATX and M-ATX types of motherboards, which are generally used by most gamers.

  • Connectivity options: The front panel has all important ports, like one USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, separate headphone and microphone jacks, a power button, and a restart button.

  • Cable Management: You can easily do the cable management as you have enough space and holes.

Overall, if you are looking for a budget-friendly and stylish gaming cabinet with a compromise on a few features, such as the unavailability of a separate PSU cutout, you can consider buying this gaming cabinet.

Pros

  • Good build quality
  • Pre-installed LED fans
  • Budget-friendly
  • Good cable management can be done

Cons

  • Low-quality screws in the side
  • PSU placement
  • Limited cooling options
  • Pre-installed fans have rainbow effect that cannot be changed
